INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

Hello Everyone! Classes are open.

How you can help
Please read this information, if you have any questions please ask. Your co-operation is appreciated and will enable students to feel comfortable and reassured.

The Booking System
Please contact us to book your rolling slot, you only need to book this once and your slot will be held for you each week at your selected class. You will be asked to complete a Sign Up Form that takes some basic contact, medical, and background information that we need to know about so we can teach you safely in class. All students must give advance notice of absence either at the end of class for the following week or via your preferred method of communication at least 2 hours before class start. This will reduce the number of chairs Mathew needs to lift before and after a class. You will receive a digital copy of our data protection policy if we have your email address, you can request a paper copy if you do not have an email address, otherwise it is always available to view in class.

Classes are for adults only.

If You Are Unwell Do Not Come To Class
...as a precautionary measure, this includes any time you feel unwell with something that is probably contagious. As for confirmed Covid-19, even if you test positive but feel fine, skip class.

We are now under basic guidance designed for exercise classes, which we have balanced to accommodate the vulnerability of some of our members. Please speak to us if you have any concerns regarding your individual circumstances.

Payment
Bring the correct fee to class to avoid the need for change and have it ready as you enter the hall. There is a suitable receptacle to place money in and hand sanitizer for you to use on the table.

Mathew will tick names off the register.

When you attend a class

Wear comfortable loose clothing and flat shoes.

Bring water with you if you wish.

Try not to bring unnecessary items (shopping, etc) as space is limited.

Let us know if you have any injury or medical condition, we need to be aware of, prior to class starting.

Seating Plan
Chairs are in their usual spacing. Only move your own chair after checking this is OK with the person next to you, be polite, it is fine to say “No, thank you!”. Respect one another’s personal space during exercise.

What to expect

  • Class starts with a gentle warm up, nothing too strenuous, just to loosen the joints.

  • This is followed by the Chi Kung portion of the class.

  • There is then a short non-religious guided meditation usually about 5-10 min.

  • A short break. Have a quick drink or chat.

  • The remainder of the lesson is Tai Chi empty hand and /or weapons form depending on what students are studying at the time.

Note; the class does vary from this basic format, especially if we are covering specialised training, but this gives you a rough idea of what to expect.

...and finally

This may seem like a lot to take in so thank you for taking the time to read this.

See you in class.

Mathew
